Is it really possible that eating a high calorie meal of chicken & broccoli, fried rice, egg drop soup with fried wonton thingies in it and ice cream for dessert can help me lose weight?
David (my husband) said it is. What happens is when you are eating less calories on a regular basis, your body wants to protect itself by going into "starvation mode" (meaning it wants to stop burning as many calories because it isn't sure if it's going to get more). If you add a cheat meal, your body recognizes that you aren't starving and your metabolism can speed up as a result.
That's the best I can word it myself. Just remember that your body will do what it needs to to survive. If it isn't sure it's going to get fed, it will hold onto what it's got. So throw in a higher calorie meal here and there and it will think, Hey, I am getting fed. Let's get burnin'!

Not only is it good for actually losing weight but it helps mentally to keep you on track. Believe it or not I actually only ate half the fried rice than I normally would. I just got full pretty fast and felt I could live without the rest. Knowing that I can have this meal again next week if I want it as a cheat meal helps me with eating a better portion.
